We don’t recognise this device, so we need your code. Open the authenticator app you set up (Google Authenticator, Authy, and so on) and type the 6-digit number it is showing right now. It changes every 30 seconds. It is not your password, and it is not something we email you.
Still not working? The usual cause is the clock on your phone. An authenticator works out the code from the current time, and being a minute off is enough to make every attempt fail. Switch the phone to automatic date and time, then type the next number it shows. If that does not help either, the entry in your app is no longer the one this account expects, and a recovery code is the way back in.
The 10 recovery codes you saved when you switched 2FA on work here too. Type one into the box above instead of the 6-digit number. Each code works once.
No app and no recovery codes left? Open a helpdesk ticket from the email address registered on your account. Writing from that address is how we know the account is yours, and once we have checked it we can switch 2FA off for you.
